Emergency Preparedness

Templeton makes student safety a priority for the health and wellbeing of our students, staff, and community. We approach student safety from a variety of ways including campus security through an agreement with the SLO County Sheriff's Department to provide a School Resource Officer, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), mental health and wellness staff ready to address the needs of our students, regular safety assessments, ongoing staff trainings, and student drills to practice the procedures established by the Emergency Preparedness Committee. Through a grant from the Templeton Education Foundation in 2017, the district has a trailer equipped with emergency supplies and equipment which can be moved to be meet the needs in the event of an emergency.

In 2017 and again in 2019, administrators attended the FEMA Academy in Emmitsburg, MD, to learn from the experts on how to respond to a variety of emergency situations, including active shooter, wildfire, hazardous materials spills, etc. The result of attending this training was increased staff training and a more detailed Emergency Response Plan.

District Safety Committee

The District Safety Committee is responsible for addressing the safety and health of staff. The Committee is charged with following up on employee concerns and investigating possible solutions.
