Attendance and SARB Letters
We are happy to have our students here every day but also understand absences are inevitable.
How to report an absence: If your student is absent, please call the Attendance Line at 434-5826 or email me directly at jfielder@templetonusd.org. If your student's absence is marked as "Unverified," you will get a message in the evening asking you to contact the school to explain why they were absent.
Doctor/dentist appointments: If your student has a doctor or dentist appointment, please give us a note from the doctor. This includes arriving late to school, leaving early for appointments, and missing a whole day.
Attendance codes: If you give us a doctor's note for a day or part of a day your child missed, we will mark it as "Ill with a doctor's note" or "Excused tardy or partial absence with doctor's note." These absences are NOT counted in the SARB total.
***Our TUSD SARB (Student Attendance Review Board) will contact parents when a student has 5 unexcused absences. The second and third letters will be sent when a student has 7 and 10 absences. Absences that are counted in the SARB totals are sick days without a doctor's note, being late to school (more than 30 minutes), or leaving school early (more than 30 minutes before the end of the day), and personal days.
We offer Independent Study Contracts for planned vacations! Your child's teacher will send school work to be done while they are gone. This is good for everyone! Your child stays up to date on their schoolwork, and TUSD keeps its funding. To qualify for this, you need to fill out the link below 5 school days before the planned absence! This can be used for as little as 1 day absent and up to 15 days absent.

Please ask me any questions or share any concerns you have. TES is a magical place!
More SARB Information
Student attendance is reviewed regularly by the Student Attendance Review Board (SARB). Student attendance reviews are performed weekly and our computerized system automatically generates SARB letters to families who have exceeded the normal absence and/or tardy allowance. The first and second letters are generally warnings. The third letter may prompt a formal meeting in which an attendance contract will be signed. After the third letter and contract, families may be recommended for review at the County Sheriff's Station. Fines, penalties and other services may be enforced as a result of the SARB meeting.
Be sure to call in absences or submit letters to our attendance clerk, Jessica Fielder, in the TES front office or at 434-5826. If you have unusual or extenuating circumstances causing multiple absences or tardies, please let us know immediately.
If your child is absent or tardy for a medical appt., please bring a note or card from the practitioner's office. These are coded differently in the computer and are typically excluded from the computerized review.
Student attendance and starting our daily routines on time with the rest of our classmates are of the utmost importance in our young learner's lives. Please get our students to school on time. First and Second Grade students can be dropped off as early as 7:30am when our campus supervision begins.
