The Playful Preschool Team!

Preschool Teacher

The ELC Preschool program is for children age 3 living in Templeton Unified that qualify for special education services through the assessment and IEP process. The program focuses on language/vocabulary development, social opportunities (play skills), sensory exploration, and other life skills. The ELC preschool operates like most other preschools. We have circle time, calendar time, centers, snack, recess, crafts, music/movement and several social opportunities to connect and interact with other children. In addition, the ELC preschool program includes “typically” developing children. This gives the children with special needs the opportunity to interact, learn and grow with “general education” preschoolers during their school day. Our routine is predictable and expectations are very clear, so it makes an easy transition for students to know exactly what their school day will be like. We work to include our students into a gen ed setting with their peers as they transition into TK and Kinder. Additional parts of the Special Education team on campus that support the ELC preschool are the Speech and Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, School Psychologist and a board certified behaviorist (BCBA).
